The Independent Can Design Connection

Over the years, Independent Can has worked with renowned and independent artists for the benefit of our customers and our own Stock Decorative Tin Program. We have featured Thomas Kinkade and Terry Redlin in our stock program and have sourced art for our customers’ custom programs. We also have a number of graphic designers on staff.

Last year, we introduced artist Michael Shelton, from Artistic Design Group to our lineup. Michael’s stunning seasonal art can be seen on crafts, greeting cards, and other decorative items for the home. We are delighted to feature his work in our stock program. Michael’s designs are Snowy Drive, All Decked Out, Home for the Holidays and Snow Covered Mill. See all sizes offered in our stock catalog. 

There are times when we have a vision for a new item and cannot find just the right artwork. One of our independent artists has been able to take our direction and come up with a unique item just for Independent Can or one of our clients.

We had a vision of snowflakes falling down and gathering on a windowsill. With that limited description, independent artist, Christine Bostelman, was able to create a design that exceeded our expectations. It had so much more interest than the overall snowflake patterns that are so popular with our customers. We call this design Swirling Snow. The Independent Can creative teams (pre-press, graphic design and lithography) worked together to place the reflectivity, from bright tin showing through the inks, in just the right places for the benefit of the design. We have done the same thing working with art, provided by our customers, for the best outcome with their custom cans.

In addition to expertise in artwork development and our licensing connections, we are our own printer. We are the experts at printing on metal for the best aesthetic outcome. With our state-of-the-art 4 and 6 color Metal Star 2 printing lines, we can deliver consistently repeatable color and high definition graphics on metal. Our knowledge and experience allows us to make recommendations for cost savings without compromising the look of the package.
