Independent Can Named Best Family-owned Business Award Honoree

On March 28th, the Baltimore Business Journal named Independent Can Company as a 2019 honoree during the Best Family Owned Business Award ceremony. The award honored the success and impact of multi-generational family businesses across the region. The candidates were family businesses that have endured through multiple generations, have continued to change with the times and that contribute to the broader community through philanthropy or other means.  Independent Can was one of the twelve companies recognized.

Independent Can is celebrating its 90th anniversary! The company has grown from a single location in Baltimore, Maryland, to six locations nationwide. Two of our six locations house state-of-the-art metal decorating facilities as well as can manufacturing operations.

Founded in 1929, during the Great Depression, Independent Can Company is a world leader in the manufacturing of specialty metal packaging and metal lithography. We are an American manufacturer with a long history of success and strategic expansion. Our portfolio of specialty cans is the largest in North America.

Of the more than 400 jobs the company provides, 288 are in Maryland. With continued investments and many highly skilled and experienced craftsman we have become the industry leader in capability and capacity. Independent Can is still family owned and operated after four generations. We are more focused on and passionate about printing and can making than ever.
