Mar 16th, 2020

To Our Valued Partners,

I would like to provide you with some important information regarding the Independent Can Company (ICC) proactive response to the COVID-19 issue.

As the Nation comes together to slow the spread of COVID-19, on March 16th, the President issued updated Coronavirus Guidance for America. This guidance states that:

If you work in a critical infrastructure industry, as defined by the Department of Homeland Security, such as healthcare services and pharmaceutical and food supply, you have a special responsibility to maintain your normal work schedule.

ICC is producing products for both Defense (military cans) and also for the food supply. As such ICC is considered essential and will keep all plants open until the local or federal government issues a closure order. In recent days we have heard from our primary Coatings Suppliers as well as other supply chain partners and we feel confident in our ability to continue supply to all customers.

ICC currently does not purchase directly any raw materials for our domestic can making business from China. We have a diverse supply chain and have inventory on hand and in the pipeline that should carry us through any short disruptions.  We are in constant contact with our supply chain partners to stay informed on their business continuity programs.

As part of our Safe Quality Food (SQF) certification, ICC has in place an Infectious Disease policy to allow each of our plants to know exactly how to manage situations as they arise. Effective March 9th ICC has stopped all international travel and is minimizing domestic travel based on the business requirements with CEO Approval. ICC has also postponed large meetings until at least June 2020.

Beyond the standard SQF requirements ICC has implemented enhanced cleaning requirements in each plant. Employees are required to wash hands frequently and additional hand sanitizer stations have been located in our facilities. Our third-party cleaning services are completing additional wipe downs of high traffic areas and we have implemented staggered breaks to minimize contact between employees.

ICC employees that are approved for Work From Home (WFH) have been instructed to do so effective immediately. We have implemented a required wellness form to be filled out before any customer, vendor, contractor, or non-local employee is allowed to enter one of our facilities. Our intent is to be able to run our business while taking the precautions necessary to protect our employees and customers.

Your sales representative will be in touch with you to discuss your Business Continuity Strategy and what ICC can do to help you during this difficult time.

Best Regards
